Darrell Ticehurst
Born and raised in Western Washington, Darrell is our transplanted gift to California. Currently he is an IGFA rep in Northern California, and is on the Board of Directors for Tournament Anglers Association. He fishes in several big game tournaments a year including the Ixtapa Sailfish Tournament, the Eastcape Billfish Tournament, and the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament.
Darrell has recorded over 50 billfish releases in tournament competition and released an even larger number on recreational trips. He usually manages one long range trip each year for yellowfin tuna, and tries to get in other trips to Canada and Alaska. Darrell has caught more than 125 fish that exceeded 100 lb. (nine species: striped marlin, blue marlin, halibut, sailfish, hammerhead shark, galapagos brown shark, thresher shark, yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna). His boat, a 35' Noosacat (a power catamaran from Australia) was delivered in the spring of 2000, and is berthed in Half Moon Bay, CA, where he pursues salmon and albacore (and the occasional ling if the season would only stay open).
Darrell currently has a seat on the Pacific Fishery Management Council as the member from California. He is the only private boat recreational marine angler on the council and feels that he should speak up for all recreational anglers on issues of interest to us. He can be reached via e-mail.
