News & Views From the Eastside
Rob Phillips
Rob grew up in Yakima, WA and spent very little time reading and writing and way too much time hunting and fishing. Still, somehow, he managed to graduate from West Valley High School and Washington State University, where writing always seemed to save his bacon
Today, along with his copy writing, account management and ownership duties at Smith, Phillips and DiPietro Advertising & Public Relations in Yakima, he writes on various outdoor subjects for a number of publications. He has had over 500 articles and countless photos published since he started writing professionally in 1986.
His column, "The Northwest Sportsman" appears every Thursday in the Yakima Herald-Republic where he keeps his readers apprised of what's happening where in the great outdoors. His column, "News and Views From the Eastside" has appeared in THE REEL NEWS since the late 90's. Rob is our main "eastside connection" for those going from points west.
He is an active member of the Outdoor Writers of America and the Northwest Outdoor Writer's Association (NOWA). His writing and photographs have been recognized many times by NOWA for Excellence In Craft and his newspaper column has been selected as one of the best in the Northwest many times over.
Rob and his wife Terri, have two sons, Kyle and Kevin, and three hunting dogs that eat too much.
