Terry W. Sheely

Publisher and author of the popular Washington State Fishing Guide, Terry is a full-time outdoor writer/photographer with credits in most regional and national outdoor magazines. For almost three decades he has been wading, floating, flying, hiking, climbing and riding across the Northwest chasing stories, photos, adventures, wildlife, and fish. With his wife Natalie, black lab Jake and an assortment of boats that range from too small to too big Terry lives on a multi-species fishing lake near Black Diamond, WA, in the Cascade Mountain foothills.


He has won dozens of regional and national awards for writing, editing, and photography, authored five outdoor books, edited or co-edited a dozen more, was an editor at Outdoor Empire Publications, a founding editor of Northwest Fishing Holes magazine, editor of Northwest Living magazine, and editor/writer for Alaska Northwest Publishing where he wrote a northwest column for ALASKA magazine, and wrote the award-winning book, The Northwest Sportsman's Almanac. He has written standing columns for boating, hunting, and fishing periodicals and covers Northwest fishing for a number of regional and national magazines. His book, "High Road Guide to the Oregon Cascades," was released in March, 2000 by Longstreet Publishing of Atlanta, GA, and the ninth edition of Washington State Fishing Guide is available in sporting goods stores, along with the 320 mouth-watering recipes in Pacific Northwest Seafood Cookery. Terry writes Columbia River Region, Reel Books In Review columns and feature stories for THE REEL NEWS.
